Day 3: Wednesday June 1, 2022

We woke to foggy skies and 46 degree temps. We met a couple in the parking lot that were loading their Harley Davidson trike and trailer.  They were from Texas where they sold their home months ago and have taken for the road in seek of the ideal place to put down roots for their retirement. His name is Robert and his wife was enamored with my Bushtec trailer as they were challenged in packing all their worldly belongings into their trailer.  I told them Bushtec is based out of Tennessee and they mentioned that was a state they were interested in checking out.  Before we pulled out of the parking lot we huddled up to pray as usual.  We asked Robert if he or his wife needed any prayer and he declined but agreed to take a picture of us. Robert was headed to Salem to have his trike serviced and we pulled out to get a hot breakfast, something Rob has been craving.

Since we had a short ride today we had a casual morning before we headed north on 101 toward the Tillamook cheese factory. Yesterday we had clear blue skies today we only had high clouds or as we called it in San Diego a “marine layer”.  The ride today took us through dozens of little towns or communities where the speed limit fluctuated between 20 and 50 mph for miles. We arrived at Tillamook got a small bite to eat and did the self guided tour of cheese making. Eric and Dave were trying to find lodging in Tillamook and there wasn’t anything so we decided to look in Sea Side. Eric found a great deal on line at the River Inn so we rode to Sea Side and checked into our room.  We walked across the parking lot to Doogers Restaurant a steak and seafood place. Our waiter was Francesco who came to the states from Italy a few years ago. Taking after Myrna, I asked him several questions and he told us he married a couple years ago and has a daughter. That he loves to cook and on Fridays he makes pizzas at a local restaurant. He was an electrician in Italy but Oregon doesn’t recognize his training from Italy and has to enter an apprentice program to be certified in Oregon. It was fascinating talking to him.  Tomorrow we ride to Washington.

We rode 225 miles today.

Romans 1:11-12   I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong - that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.
