Day 4: Sunday June 22, 2014

We left Eureka at 9:15am to 57 degrees and a marine layer "fog". After a few minutes riding north on the 101 the temperature dropped to 54 degrees, but very comfortable. We were soon in elk country and stopped along the road to take some pictures of the elk that were grazing in a meadow only a few feet from the highway. The coastline was breathtaking and we stopped several times to take in the views.

We made it into Crescent City and wanted seafood for lunch so we asked a local resident for a recommendation of a restaurant. The Chart Room along the bay was the recommendation. The restaurant was busy and was a charming seafood house that had excellent food. I got a grilled crab sandwich and chowder, Dave got a seafood sampler and lobster bisque. After lunch we were getting our gear on and this man named Mel approached us and made small talk. He spoke of prayer and I told him how we pray every day for safety and the protection of angels surrounding our motorcycles. Mel spoke with us for several minutes and shared briefly a part of his testimony which was amazing how he came to know Jesus 40 years ago. He is a Man of God now and blessed Dave and I as he held our hands and prayed over us for our safety and the protection over our families while we are apart. We would have spent hours with Mel but his wife called him asking where he was because their table was ready for lunch. Mel if you find this blog thank you for approaching us and praying for us, may God Bless you!

Brother Mel and Dave

We left California and arrived in Oregon. This time Oregon greeted us with sunshine, in 2012 Dave and I never saw the sun while we rode thru Oregon so today's sunshine allowed us to see things we never saw last time. Such as the coastline of Oregon which is beautiful. We cut our ride short today to get a little rest as the previous days rides have been long. We settled in Coos Bay for the evening. Total miles today only 236.
