Day 16: Friday July 4, 2014

Today we went over to the Reliant Energy Center (REC) for some appointments we had for our bikes. Dave was having some hand painted artwork applied to his bike by renowned bike artist "Mountainman Mike" and I was having some corrective work done on my bike for the electrical work I had done yesterday. We spent the entire day at the REC as the artist and technician worked on our bikes. We enjoyed walking around the exhibits and meeting all the fascinating people from across the USA who are Gold Wing enthusiasts.

Mountainman Mike did a trike and trailer with a Civil War theme as requested by the owner of the rig. He dropped the bike off in November 2013 and picked it up in February 2014. Mike and his wife Shirley researched the history of the civil war then Mike painted the story of the Civil War on the Goldwing trike and trailer for a mere $15,000.

Dave had Mountainman Mike paint the flag and American eagle on the trunk of his bike. All the work done by Mike is hand painted without stencils! He does amazing work and the finished product is spectacular!

After the painting we rode back to the hotel, parked the bikes and walked down to the Essen Haus for dinner. Along the way we passed the Capitol and a few historic buildings.
